Plateau United defensive midfielder, Oghene Elijah has attributed the team's brilliant
start to the current League season to the high level of motivation provided by the government of Plateau State and the management of the team.
United sit on top of the NPFL table, having picked 17 points from a possible 21, in what has been an incredible start to the campaign.
Elijah told Naijafootball247.com that the governor of the state, Simon Lalong, and his chief of staff John Dafa'an have largely contributed to the early success story of the team by keeping close tabs on them.
“Before the season started, the governor came to the training ground to watch us. He told us that he will do something big for us if we can be on top of the league by mid-season.
“Apart from that, we always get messages from the governor and the chief of staff after our games,” Elijah said.
He also said the team General Manager, Pius Hewman, has also been of great support to the players and officials.
“Our general manager takes our match bonuses to all our venues. Before we play, he comes to our dressing room to show us the bonuses and challenges us to win the game and he will give us the money.
“This is good motivation for us.”
Plateau United will be away at Akwa United in Sunday’s match day 8 of the NPFL.
