Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye has told Naijafootball247.com that the World Cup in Russia in 2018 is a must for the Super Eagles.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s AFCON qualifier against Tanzania, Ideye said the players are looking forward to qualifying for the World Cup having missed out on two consecutive AFCON tournaments.
“I really do not understand why people think Nigeria will not qualify for the World Cup from that group because we have a lot of good and young players in the team currently.
“I think we have the upper hand in the group and when you add the new coach that just came, you will understand why I am optimistic,” Ideye said.
“Right now the new man in charge is trying to work with all of us and let us know his style and philosophy and things are looking good.
“We have no excuse as players. We just have to qualify for the World Cup,” Ideye said.
Brown Ideye scored the first goal for the Eagles in the practice game against Akwa United on Wednesday and is expected to play a part in the encounter against Tanzania on Saturday.
