MFM will on Sunday begin their three match closed gate sanction when they host Heartland in week 27 of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The Lagos-based church side were ordered by the League Management Company to play their next three home games behind closed doors after fans at the Agege Stadium disrupted the match day 22 fixture against Shooting Stars.

The sanction was billed to begin with the Lagos derby against Ikorodu United, but the LMC waived that game, explaining that the fact that the game had already been lined-up for live TV coverage made it imperative for fans to be granted access.

MFM will therefore play Plateau United and Warri Wolves, alongside Heartland this weekend, behind closed door.

In a chat with Naijafootball247.com, goalkeeper James Aiyeyemi praised the fans for their support all through the season, and admitted that it will be difficult to play without them.

He however said that the absence of the fans would not deter them for picking maximum points against their opponents on Sunday.

“The fans have been too fantastic. They are always coming out to give us the best of what they have.  I have never seen this kind of fans before.

“It is a painful thing that the game is going to be played behind closed doors. Everybody will miss them, but when you are ready to play football you won’t look at what happens. We just need to come out and make our fans proud.”

The former Sharks goal tender predicted that the game against Heartland will be a war.

“That game is going to be a war game because they (Heartland) want to leave the relegation zone. It is a game we have to come out and win, and I believe we are going to win it.”

MFM currently sit in 10th place on the log with 33 points from 24 matches.
