Rangers Technical Adviser, Imama Amapakabo has declared that his team will be gunning for all three points when they travel to Uyo to be guests of Akwa United in the Nigeria Professional Football League on Saturday.
The Enugu-based side, who suffered a shocking defeat in the Federation Cup to NNL side Crown FC in midweek, are currently joint top in the league, and are only separated from table topping Wikki Tourists on goal difference.
A result for Amapakabo’s side will propel them to the top, at least for 24 hours, pending Wikki’s game at the Confluence Stadium against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.
With the league now approaching its crucial stage, Amapakabo says that every game at this point is important to them.
“Every game at this point in the league is crucial. We are currently 2nd in the league with about eleven games to go. Right now we have about five teams in chase of the title and any of these teams have the opportunity to win.
“We just have to keep chasing it and making every point count. There will be three points to play for and Rangers will be going for all three points.”
The Flying Antelopes come into the game with a recent away form that has seen them pick points in consecutive away games against Wiiki Tourists and Niger Tornadoes.
Their hosts, Akwa United, will be looking to continue their seeming resurgence that has seen them lose just once in their last eight games in all competitions.
Their last home game was against Kano Pillars when they came from behind to beat win 2-1.
Amapakabo acknowledges the fine form of his opponents but thinks they are still beatable at home.
“They have this unbeaten run and have the home advantage, but that doesn’t mean they are not beatable. We know how they function and we are working on it. We will give it our best and pray our best will be good enough.”
The game which will be the curtain raiser for NPFL week 27 round of matches comes up at 4pm on Saturday and will be live on SuperSports Select.
