Go Round FC out of Federation Cup

Go Round FC will play no further part in the 2016 Nigeria Federation Cup after a 1-0 loss to Nasarawa United in Enugu on Wednesday.

The goal that wrapped up the game was scored in the 10th minute by Bature Yaro but the drama after the goal was scored lasted at least another ten minutes.

Just before Yaro put the ball in, the Assistant Referee’s flag went up for offside and stayed up for close to one minute.

Center referee, John Charles looked at her direction after pointing to the center and then agreed with her, asking the ball to be returned for a free kick,

A few seconds later, John Charles pointed at the center again signifying he had accepted the goal leading to a protest by players of Go Round FC.

The game eventually restarted and no side was able to add to the score line for the rest of the game.

Coach of Go Round FC, Ngozi Elechi said after the game that his players did their best but that singular blunder by the referee led to their exit from the competition,

“Everybody saw what happened. That was a clear offside goal. The lines man flag was up, yet the referee called it a goal. It’s very bad and I don’t like it,” Elechi said.

Coach of Nasarawa United, Kabiru Dogo simply said the winning goal score by his side was a good one.

“It doesn’t matter what I say about the goal. People will say it’s because I benefited from it. Go Round is a good side. They have the energy but we have the experience.

“As far as I am concerned, we just update ourselves and learn the rules of the game. It was a good goal,” Dogo said.

Go Round FC will now focus on their league game in Asaba on Saturday against Delta Force.
