Presidential candidate for the forthcoming Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), national elections, Mr Honour Sirawoo has inaugurated his campaign committee with a promise to reposition the association for greater service to the country.
The committee code-named "Restoration Campaign Organisation" is headed by a bridge builder, Mr Alloy Chukwuemeka popularly called ACC.
Inaugurating the committee at the Toprank Hotel, Utako, Abuja Tuesday, Mr Sirawoo thanked members of the organisation for accepting to serve, describing them as part of the journey towards restoring the dignity of the association.
"Our vision, he declared, is very clear we must restore this association to its rightful position and make it revered by stakeholders, we must play our role in the development of sports in our country; i trust that with your capacity we will win, for our journey to commence."
Sirawoo, who is presently the Vice President, South South of SWAN tasked the organisation to reach out to members and friends of the association across the six geo-political zones of the country with a view to securing their support.
"Elections are close, once the coast is clear for campaigns, we must campaign vigorously; we must reach out to the electorates across the 36 states including Abuja, to ensure we garner all votes in the elections."
Responding, the Director General of the campaign organisation, Mr Alloy Chukwuemeka praised Mr Sirawoo for the choice of members of his campaign team that cut across the six geo-political zones of the country, stressing that such consideration was a clear testimony of the unity and benefits the association will reap from his leadership.
Mr Chukwuemeka described Sirawoo as a matured mind, strict follower of the rules, humble, creative, accountable and capable of steering the association to greater height.
He thanked the Rivers State government and its people for making available Mr Sirawoo whom he further described as well-equipped to serve the association and country at this challenging moment in history.
The Director General acknowledged that the works of the organisation is made easier in view of the marketability and acceptability of Mr Sirawoo, saying "he will sanitise SWAN" and assured that the team will work hard to secure victory at the polls.
Other members of the campaign organisation include Azuka Chiemeka representing South South as Director of Transport &Logistics, Moyoyo Sadiq representing North East to serve as Director of Finance &Welfare, Akintunde Akinsemola from South West as Director of Media & Publicity.
Membership also include Addo Salisu from North West as Director of Contact & Mobilisation, Foster Chime from South East is to serve as Director, Research & Planning while Chris Onokpegu of North Central is the Secretary General.
SWAN South South Chairmen forum had in April endorsed Mr Honour Sirawoo as it's sole candidate for the Office of President at a meeting in Warri, Delta state.
