Brown Ideye Challenge: ideye encourages grassroots players

*He has Shown he has them in mind- Onazi

Super Eagles forward Brown Ideye has sent out a message of encouragement to players playing at the grassroots not to despair but to keep believing that they can one day achieve their dreams.

Ideye, sponsor of the Brown Ideye Challenge currently on-going in Port Harcourt Rivers State says he also played at grassroots competitions and as such knows the challenges being faced by players at that level.

The Greece based striker says the key to eventual success is to keep pushing on no matter what life throws at you.
I’ll just tell them to believe in themselves knowing everything is possible. No matter what you are facing in life, you just have to keep on pushing, keep on working hard and believe that you can make it.

Ideye speaking to the press in Port Harcourt reiterated his major objective in putting up the Brown Ideye Challenge was to give back to society and also create an opportunity to keep the upcoming footballers busy.

It’s Just to give back to the youth for them to enjoy playing football because I have once been in that shoe before so I know how it is.
Playing football without any competition is a bit stressful so just to give back to them, for them to come out and be happy doing what they know how to do best which is playing football, that's what I saw and decided to do it.

The Super Eagles forward who also admitted he played in lots of grassroots competitions before hitting it big time, said playing in such competitions helped him build his confidence which has taken him to where he is today.

It helped me a lot because each time I knew a competition like that was coming up, I always gingered up ready to play. As a grassroots football player, it really helps you a lot to build your confidence and to know how far you’ve gone with tactics and your skills. So a thing like that (grassroots competitions) as a grassroots footballer, it really helps you to play with other clubs which helps you to build your confidence.

Friend to Brown Ideye and Super Eagles team mate, Ogenyi Onazi believes plenty of accolades should be thrown the way of Brown and any other serving player who has decided to sponsor such grassroots competition.

Onazi who also had engaged in similar acts in the past says Brown's sponsorship of an event for players at the grassroots level, shows he thinks about them and that he would want to see them succeed in their efforts.
I want to thank God for his life and for him doing this. Anyone who is doing something like this means they really know where they are coming from.
If you do things like this, it shows you really feel for the people who are coming up because when we were growing up, we didn’t have such an opportunity for players who have been in our position now to give us such an opportunity to play in such a tournament.
So for him to do that, shows that he wants to give back to society and he is remembering the people who are coming up. It shows that you think about them and you want them to have a bright future just like you have.
