Previously unfancied Benedi FC surprisingly moved to the top of Group D at the Brown Ideye Challenge after a 1-0 win over Police Machine FC.
Benedi have now racked up six points from two games in a group that has experienced campaigners like Police Machine, Glodek and Port Harcourt City Academy coached by Joseph “Zico” Egbu.

In the other match of the day, Port Harcourt City FC opened their campaign in Group D with a 1:0 win over Glodek FC.
Happy Joseph scored the goal in the 82nd minute of a close encounter.
Coach Keshi of the Port Harcourt City side though happy over the game’s final result expressed his displeasure over his side’s failure to play to instruction.
He informed Brown Ideye Challenge, BIC media that had his boys followed instruction, they would have scored more goals against Glodek Fc.
“Well it was a good game only that my boys didn’t play to instructions. They initially were playing individual football and that’s why the goal didn’t come early,” coach Keshi said.
On his part coach of Glodek FC, Emmanuel Amaechi during his post-match interview made it clear he wasn’t on the same page with the officials on the goal which condemned his side to a loss.
“I was not happy with that goal scored against us. I think it was a mistake by the Assistant Referee and I though it was offside,” Amaechi said.
Friday would see Rumuowha Utd play Citadel by 2pm while Soccer FireFC will battle Gold Kings from 4pm.
