|Man down: Rumuowha player injured in opening game|
A Lucky Martins brace helped Awoba FC to a 4-2 victory over Rumuowha FC in the opening match of the much-talked-about Brown Ideye Challenge.
Nigeria Professional Football League Legend, Victor Ezeji officially set the ball rolling with the first kick of the tournament, after which spectators got treated to an intriguing affair, regardless of the heavy downpour in the second half.
With goals from Captain, Fiafiaene Sabbath and Lucky Martin, Awoba FC were 2-0 up at the break. On resumption, they extended their lead before Rumuowha pulled two back.
However, a comeback for Rumuowha FC was not to be. Instead Awoba added a fourth.
Action continues on Thursday at the Brown Ideye Challenge.
The NTA Playing field, Mgbuoba will continue to play host to the best of soccer artistry in the grassroots as three matches are slated to hold this afternoon. Starting the day's programme is a Group A game between Soccer Fire FC and Citadel FC at 2pm.
In group B, Military side, Amphibious will take on Ghanaman & Friends also at 2pm at the B pitch while in the same group, A&B Academy will slug it out with Abduljeleel Ajagun Soccer Academy at 4pm.
