The management of Lagos based Ikorodu United have come out to deny a rumour making rounds over the sack of their coach.
Most media houses in the country, especially the electronic media revealed early on Monday morning that Benson Edema, the assistant coach of the club had been sacked after their home loss to Rivers United on Sunday in the league.
However, Media Officer of the club, Babatunde Ayoola in a statement on Monday afternoon revealed that it was not true.
“The Management and Board of Directors of Ikorodu United Football Club is using this medium to disassociate itself from the false rumour from a section of the press that our Assistant Coach, Mr Edema Benson has being sacked,” the statement read.
“Edema Benson, who was in interim capacity as the Chief Coach before the appointment of Sam Okpodu is still an integral part of Ikorodu United Football Club as the Assistant Coach.
“We plead with our Esteemed Press Men and Ladies to ensure that their platforms does not associate itself from such fallacy,” the statement said.
Ikorodu United have acquired for themselves the reputation of whipping boys of the league having lost twice and drawn once at home in the nine week old league.
