Gbenga Ogunbote excited by Giwa challenge

Newly-appointed Technical Adviser of Giwa FC Gbenga Ogunbote says the desire for a fresh challenge was responsible for his move to the Jos-based outfit.

Ogunbote joined Giwa in the offseason from Shooting Stars after helping the Oluyole Warriors to remain in the top flight.

The Jos Elephants narrowly missed out on a continental spot from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) last season on the last day and ended up in 5th spot on the table.

In a chat with Naijafootball247.com in Ijebu Ode, Ogunbote says his target is to help the club secure a continental ticket.

“Moving to Giwa FC is just to face new challenges,” Ogunboted disclosed.

“The truth of the matter is that I’ve never worked in the North and I’ve not worked with any private club,” the former Sunshine Stars gaffer told naijafootball247.com.

“Let me see how it looks like. I love challenges,” he said.

The continental challenge?

Ogunbote revealed the challenge before him at Giwa FC to naijafootball247.com stating that his target is to secure a continental ticket.

“The challenge before me is to ensure that the team (Giwa FC) goes into the continent next season. That means we have to qualify for it this coming season.

“If that is done, we would have met the target set,” Ogunbote stated.

Giwa are scheduled to face FC Ifeanyi Uba at home in a Match Day 1 fixture of the new NPFL season on Sunday, 21 February, 2016.
