Solomon Ogbeide sacked at Bayelsa United

Solomon Ogbeide claimed the inglorious reputation of being the first coach to be sacked this season in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Ogbeide who was with Bayelsa United as head coach until the early hours of Monday morning was given the boot alongside his assistants in the aftermath of their draw on Sunday at home against Dolphins.

That encounter ended 2-2 with Bayelsa United coming from behind to equalize twice.

And finally, the media officer announced with this message Bayelsa United Sacked Solomon Ogbeide, Richard Bubagha, Bekowei Aranka, Mike Kaikain, Ada Gwegwe and Lawrence Arthur over Poor result.

One of the sacked coaches revealed to naijafootball247.com under the condition of anonymity that they were sacked via text message (SMS).

“We didn’t get a letter, nothing, just a text message. There are lots of things involved in this club but we can’t say it because we still believe we have a future in the game. We will take the sack in good faith,” the coach said.

The text message that sacked Bayelsa United coaches read thus, Subsequent to the agreement between the management and the coaches and the inability for coaches to meet their agreement, management had decided that all Bayelsa United FC coaches are hereby relieved from their appointment.

“I do not think we were that bad as a team. Yes we had drawn twice at home. We had also picked a point on the road,” the coach said.

George Ederekumoh and Samke Nyanabofa take charge of the team with immediate effect.
