Agbim fails to get Eagles’ call

Erstwhile captain of Nigeria’s homebased Super Eagles team, Chigozie Agbim failed to make the cut in Stephen Keshi’s first team since his return.

With the return of Keshi to the team, it seemed assured that Agbim, who now plays in goal for Enugu Rangers would make a return but the Super Eagles gaffer preferred Daniel Akpeyi of Warri Wolves, Ikechukwu Ezenwa of Sunshine Stars and Chidiebere Eze of Gabros.

There was also a long overdue call up for Enyimba captain, Chinedu Udoji and a return to the team for Chibuzor Okonkwo who now plays for Gabros.

Stephen Keshi released a list of 26 home-based professionals who will kick-start the team’s camping programme ahead of next month’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad.

Record scorer in the Nigeria elite division, Mfon Udoh is accompanied by Nelson Ogbonnaya, Nathaniel Joseph and Moses Ekpai Ubong.

All the invited players are expected to report at the Bolton Hotel Apartments, Wuse, Abuja on Tuesday, 19th May, 2015
