We are Nigerians and will win, says Peterside

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Idah Peterside says the Nigerian nature of the national team players will ensure they win against South Africa on Wednesday.

The Super Eagles come up against the Bafana Bafana at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium and Peterside told naijafootball247.com that Nigerians do not give up.

“What has changed in the team is the ‘nigerianness’ which is in every one of us but they just didn’t show it earlier,” Peterside said.

“You know Nigerians never give up. We have this never say attitude to things and that is what we say against Sudan in Abuja and again against Congo in Point Noir.

“I said it after the game against Sudan that Nigeria will qualify in second place behind South Africa and I still see it the same way.”

Nigeria have never lost to South Africa in a competitive game and a win of any kind on Wednesday will see the Super Eagles qualify in second place behind the Bafana.

Nigeria started their AFCON 2015 campaign on a poor note, losing 3-2 at home to Congo.

The team now drew 0-0 on the road to South Africa before losing 1-0 to Sudan to end the first phase of the qualifiers.

However, the team picked up in Abuja, thrashing Sudan 3-1 and then beat Congo 2-0 on the road just last weekend.
