Pinnick not pressured to drop Keshi

Newly elected president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick says he will not be pushed by the sentiments of Nigerians to take a rash decision on Stephen Keshi or the Super Eagles.

Pinnick visited the Eagles in training on Monday evening at the Abuja National Stadium and afterwards told that he will still urge Nigerians to be patient with the team.

“Losing to Sudan was not pleasant. I agree we are used to winning some and losing some but that loss to Sudan was not a good one,” Pinnick said.

“I must have received a thousand calls that day asking me what I was going to do. Some said it was my first assignment and I failed but I reminded them that the Super Falcons won and it was also an assignment.

“It’s okay. Nigerians kept advising me on what to do but I had to explain and basically beg people and I believe they must have by now seen reasons in what we are doing.

“The issues here are very critical and when facing critical issues, you need to be very careful but in all, I am optimistic Nigeria will qualify for the AFCON by winning the next three games,” Pinnick said

Nigeria has played three matches against Congo, South Africa and Sudan, losing two and drawing one.
