Former Enyimba, Kano Pillars and FC Abuja chief coach Abdul Maikaba has joined the technical set up of Sharks.

Maikaba whose coaching career started with a youth side in keno has also tasted glory with Kano Pillars and Enyimba in the domestic scene.

The soft spoken coach who did not hide his admiration for the coaching style of the Technical Adviser of Sharks, Gbenga Ogunbote and quality of the team said he is in Port Harcourt to add value to one of the few traditional team's in the elite league.

"I must say am particularly pleased with the progress Ogunbote has made in this team,” Maikaba said.

Maikaba who was introduced to the players and officials of the team over the weekend stressed that he has been monitoring the team’s performance from the unbeaten run in the first stanza of the league to free fall.

He however expressed optimism that Sharks can still take its pride of place at the summit of the league by the end of the season.

“I have been following the team's progress from when the run in the first round of the league until the free fall and the boys are good and that is why I want to say Sharks can still reclaim the top spot before the end of the season.”

Maikaba joined the team for the first time at Saturday evening training session and will be  the number three man sharks dug out.
