Onazi can play against Ethiopia

Nigeria's Italy based midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi is eligible to pay for the Super Eagles against Ethiopia's Walya Antelopes on Sunday.

There has been an outcry from Nigerians to check the records of Super Eagles players so as to avoid a re-occurrence of what had happened to the likes of Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia and most recently, the Cape Verde.

However, naijafootball247.com checks reveal that Onazi is eligible to play as he has received only one caution since Nigeria's World Cup qualifying race began.

Four Super Eagles players may miss the 2nd leg against Ethiopia next month if they get a booking on Sunday as they already have a yellow card shown to them in previous games.

The players are Godfrey Oboabona, Elderson Echiejile, Ogenyi Onazi and Emmanuel Emenike

Below is the breakdown of Nigeria's yellow card history

Nigeria v Namibia June 3 in Calabar

Efe Ambrose and Godfrey Oboabona were shown yellow cards in this game.

Malawi v Nigeria June 9 in Blantyre

Efe Ambrose got a yellow card and missed the game against Kenya in Calabar on March 23.

Nigeria v Kenya March 23 in Calabar

Elderson Echiejile was shown a yellow card in this game.

Kenya v Nigeria 5th June in Kiserani

Ogenyi Onazi got a yellow card

Nigeria V Malawi September 7

Emmanuel Emenike was cautioned by the referee in this game.

So with all this no player is ruled out of the game due to yellow card offences.

Just after the FIFA Confederation Cup, the Nigeria Football Federation president, Aminu Maigari raised an alarm insinuating that head coach of the team, Stephen Keshi may not be qualified to do the job of picking players on his own.

It seemed Maigari suggested that all one hundred and sixty million Nigerians should help the head coach pick the team.

Now after the same NFF failed to give Nigerians the name of the Federation Cup top scorer just two days after the competition ended in September, there was the same fear that the NFF alone could not correctly ascertain the yellow card hiostory of Super Eagles players.

There was an outcry from a section of Nigerian Super Eagles followers that Onazi has received two yellow cards but from these stats taken from FIFA's website, it seems that has been laid to rest.
