Sharks deny training ground bust up

The management of Sharks Football Club have denied media reports that there was a training ground altercation on Wednesday involving the General Manager of the club, Okey Kpalukwu.

Media Officer of Sharks, Peter Abaje told naijafootball247.com that reports saying Okey Kpalukwu was beaten up by miscreants at training were simply not true.

“The story is untrue as the General Manager was not at the training session yesterday (Wednesday) as reported and we wondered where such story would have emanated from,” Abaje said.

“It is obvious that some people who don’t like the ongoing restructuring exercise in the team are behind the story.”

He added that Sharks’ preparation for the new season has not been disrupted in anyway.

“For the records Sharks preparation for the new season has not been disrupted and training is ongoing at our home ground and the General Manager was even at the training session this morning (Thursday) that is to further confirm the story making the rounds as the handiwork of our detractors.

“We also use this medium to appeal to journalist to cross check their facts before publication,” Abaje said.

www.mtnfootball.com on Wednesday wrote that “Hired thugs beat up the general manager of Sharks and cut short the team’s training on Wednesday on the orders of a sacked player leading Sharks to call off their training.”
