Egwueke: Eagles must stay focused

Towering Super Eagles center back, Azubuike Egwueke says focus will be the key factor that will lead the national team to the Africa Cup of Nations next year.

Egwueke who has been a mainstay in the team since Stephen Keshi became coach has revealed that the mood in camp is one of competition for places then determination to see Nigeria through to the AFCON.

“Everybody is concentrating and working hard because they know the coach will not compromise in his selections.

“We want to play the game and we want to qualify and we know the key is focus on the day,” Egwueke said.

“It’s just one more step to the AFCON and we don’t need the coach to tell us we must stay focused on the prize.”

He continued that the Liberians will not have space to express themselves on Saturday.

“We will close them down from the start and not allow them space to play. We are optimistic that we will qualify not minding the quality of the Liberians.”

Both sides ended it 2-2 in the 1st leg played in Monrovia last month.
