Sharks suspend John Obuh, players for throwing League match

The management of Nigeria Premier League side, Sharks FC have suspended their whole coaching crew, including Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh (In pic) and at least seventeen players for sabotage and anti-club activities.

This, the Permanent Secretary to the Sports Ministry, Paulinus Nwankwoala said was as a result Sharks 3-1 loss at home to Wikki Tourists two weeks ago.

“We have set up a committee to investigate the loss but before the all coaches of the team remain suspended as well as the players,” Nwankwoala said.

"It was clearly sabotage and anti-club activities and the same applies to the coaches.

"In that loss to Wikki Tourists we did not see enough commitment from the players. We believe they lost the match on purpose."

He failed to state the number of players suspended but said the Sharks team will now be left with 18 players after the suspension.

Nwakwoala also announced that Daboere Dokubo will be interim coach of Sharks for their final two games of the season, at home to Ocean Boys and away to Rangers.

Ere Dokubo is currently chairman of the Rivers State Referees Association but last worked as Interim coach of Sharks before John Obuh was employed.

He had also been Technical Adviser of National Division One League side, CKC as well as an assistant coach at Dolphins between 2001to 2007.

Sharks players actually went on strike prior to the game against Wikki Tourists protesting non payment of their signing on fees and matches bonuses this season.
