NFF may shift Cup semi finals

Indications are rife that Nigeria’s Federation Cup semifinals may not be played next week as earlier scheduled.

The national team is also billed to play a friendly match on the same day against Benin leading Heartland and Kano Pillars to protest since they have their key players in the national team.

However, head of competitions at the Federation, Mohamed Sanusi on Tuesday said the rules are clear on the matter and they will act accordingly.

“The rules are very clear say if you have four or more players in the national teams either release their players or you postpone matches involving the club until after the national engagement.

“Currently a club like Heartland has about six players with the Super Eagles and the Flying Eagles. We also have a similar scenario with Kano Pillars.

“The Organising Committee of the Federation will look into it and come up with the best option,” Sanusi said.

Heartland, Kano Pillars, Lobi Stars and Prime are in the semifinals of the Federation Cup billed for August 15, 2012.
