Dedevbo wants Flamingoes to show Champions’ stuff

Head coach of Nigeria’s girls U17 national team has charged his girl to show champions’ stuff as they open camp ahead of the World Cup in Azerbaijan next month.

Thirty five players invited to camp have all shown up and begun intensive training.

In a statement made available to by the team’s media officer, Gracious Akujiobi, Dedevbo, reminded the girls that discipline and hard work is the watch word if they are to excel.

“I am pleased to see everyone. We are not here for jamboree. We have gathered here for serious business.

“The World Cup is not tea party so the need for total commitment from everyone,” Peter Dedevbo said.

He assured the newly invited players who were not part of the qualifiers to do their best in training because players will be selected on current form.

The players who are camped at the Serob Legacy Hotel reconvened to continue preparation towards the U-17 World Cup which comes up next month in Azerbaijan.

The players led by captain Victoria Aidelomon, say they are battle ready to face their group opponents at the World Cup.

Already the team trains twice daily between 7am-10am in the morning and 3pm-6pm with the FIFA match balls which will be used at the world Cup.

The coaching crew have also said they will use this week to test the fitness level of all invited players with the hope of playing friendly matches as soon as possible.

Flamingoes are drawn in group A, alongside host Azerbaijan, Canada and Colombia in the World Cup which comes up between 22 September-13 October in Azerbaijan
