Oduamadi misses Malawi with injury

AC Milan schemer on loan at Torino, Nnamdi Oduamadi has dropped out of the team that will play Malawi this weekend due to injury.

The dreadlocked star tore his muscle in Calabar last week and was asked by medics to stay away from training for treatment.

He has now been given till next week Sunday to resume training with the team, when they return to Calabar to face Rwanda in a Nations Cup qualifier.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles players and officials have continued to heap praises on football fans in the Cross River state capital, Calabar, for the massive support accorded the team, during its World Cup qualifier opener against the Brave Warriors of Namibia last Sunday.

The players tribute was led by skipper Joseph Yobo and stand in captain, Vincent Enyeama, who said it’s been long time that they witnessed such massive backing even when the goals were not flowing.

“In some other cities we would have been booed when we failed to score but the fans stood by us throughout the 90minutes we must commend them.” Yobo said.

Enyeama on his part, urged fans in other parts of the country to borrow a leaf from Calabar fans, as they have showed that patriotism flows in their blood, by the show of support to the national team.

The plaudits is coming on the heels of the pledge by the NFF President Aminu Maigari to take more games to Calabar and the assurance by state Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, that he would continue to support the national teams at all levels.

Imoke said during dinner with the national team, that his love for the team is total commitment.

“I have told the NFF leadership and I’m telling the players now, that I will always back the team, because I know that they will bring joy to Nigerians at all cost.”
