Angry letter from a Nigerian League fan

Please help pass our displeasure to NPL over the way the Nigerian League is run.

I am among the many Nigerians that used to troop to the stadium in the good old days to watch our league games.

After over 14 years of not being in the stadium to watch any game, I started this year to watch Nigeria Premier League matches and was highly impressed with what I saw at a few Dolphins’ home games.

Since then I had been persuading all my friends to come back to the stadium in Port Harcourt because I had seen that the games are exciting and the stadium is safe, until I experienced the show of shame last weekend.

How can hoodlums have access to players’ dressing room in a professional league game before kick off? Where are the security arrangements?

Then because that happened at a game between Sharks and Ocean Boys at the Sharks Stadium, we get locked out of the Liberation Stadium when Dolphins played Enyimba a day later! Crazy!

I had successfully convinced two of my friends- one a returnee like me, the other a first timer, to join me.

We left watching the Tottenham Hotspurs game in the EPL to watch the Dolphins versus Enyimba game.

We even tried to persuade more friends to join us. Only for us to be locked out!

How can the NPL do things like this and expect people to be crazy about watching Nigeria’s league? What an irony!

What business man will lock fans out when the current league holders play the only Nigerian club to win back to back the CAF Champions’ League trophies?

It only makes me wonder if the people running the NPL are thinking at all!

Some of my friends later said to me that if the Dolphin versus Enyimba game went well they would have followed me to the stadium for the next game.
Of course the ones that came to the stadium with me have already lost interest.

If we continue like this our dream of seeing a full stadium during league games will remain a dream.

Abeg help me tell them.

Warm regards
