Rivers Angels blame pitch, security for first league loss

Rivers Angels coach, Whyte Ogbonda has blamed the pitch and lack of security personnel for their 1-0 loss to Osun Babes of Oshogbo.

That loss on Wednesday was their first in the ongoing Women Professional League.

The match which was played at the Fountain University School Premises saw Angels scoring fifteen minutes into the match, but the goal was disallowed by the centre referee Adebayor Keji from Lagos State.

Osun Babes found the net in the 75th minute.

Coach of Rivers Angels Ogbondah Whyte blamed their loss to over grown grasses on the field and lack of Security personnel on the field of play.

"We played in an interior Village in a School Premises where fans were harassing match officials dragging the flag from their hands due to fear of their lives they had to let it go as Security personnel were not available," Ogbondah said.

Ogbondah who complained to the match Commissioner Ogunbiyi O R from Ekiti said he will for formally lay his complaint to the appropriate body.

"I complained to the match Commissioner who promised to lay the complain but I will officially take this up with the Women League Board."

Rivers Angels still maintains top position on the log with six matches played earning 15 points.

The team will arrive Port Harcourt on Friday, April 13 ahead of their Weekend fixture with Police Machine of Lagos.

The match will be played at the Liberation Stadium on Sunday 15th April by 4pm.
