Warri Wolves grab former Enyimba captain

In its bid to present a team that will not only compete for the 2011/12 Nigeria Premier League title but excel in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup Competition, Warri Wolves have secured the services of former Enyimba Capt Chigozie Johnson.

Other players signed up by Warri Wolves are former Enyimba defender John Agbawu, Kano Pillars central defender Ikechukwu Gabriel, former Mighty Jets of Jos attacker Amutu Austin and Okikimusanpa Felix Onomuefe who is unattached.

The players were among the 33 players that have been signed for the new season which is expected to kick-off this weekend across the country.

The technical crew led by Paul Aigbogun also retained the services of 27 of the players that secured for it the 3rd position in the league last season.

Top among those retained are goalkeepers Chigozie Agbim, Ambrose Vanzekin, Phillip Emmanuel and Tejiri Rhiogbere, the defenders are Ike ThankGod, Egwuekwe Azubuike, Ojo Mine, Ossai Uche, Capt Goodluck Onamado, Nnedum Francis, Bright Akpojuvwevwo, Ogaga Aniwhi, Malian import Adama Coulibaly, and Nelson Onyekachi.

The attackers are Gift Atiluwa, Ebuka Okafor, Egbeta Michael, Amanze Elekwuachi, Okoyoh Michael, Mba Sunday, Okoye Ifeanyi, Bright Obada, Efe Yarhere, Kpenosen Samson, Oghogho Oduokpe and Oboh Solomon, while ex-junior international Omonigho Temile made a return from his loan deal abroad.

Meanwhile the technical crew are hot on the chase to sign Kaduna Utd striker Jude Aneke to help bolster its attack in the new season.

Already the team has been putting finishing touches to its camping exercise in Warri haven played some friendly games with both local and top club sides from outside the state.

Warri Wolves begins its season with a top of the bill clash with old foes Rangers of Enugu in Enugu.
