It is not over for Enyimba says Anyansi

Felix Anyansi-Agwu, Chairman, Enyimba says the team is still in the
race for CAF Champions League trophy, in spite of 0-1 loss to Wydad Athletic Club.

The match was held at the Casablanca Stadium in the first leg semi-finals, Morocco.

``No, it’s not over for us,’’ Anyansi told the News Agency of Nigeria in Aba on Monday.

``They have done theirs, now they have to come to Aba for the return leg.

``At knock-out stage like this, it is expected for a team to go all out when they play at home in the first leg, so that is what they have done,’’ he said.

It was the first loss suffered by Enyimba -- the two-time African champions in the competition this year after eight victories and three draws, including one at the same Casablanca stadium against Raja during the group phase.

He said that the game could have ended goalless. ``We have put this loss behind us to prepare for the return match on Oct. 16 in Aba.

Anyansi-Agwu expressed confidence that the team could advance into the finals, in spite of poor showing by Enyimba in Morocco.

``They will see a different Enyimba in the return leg; I can assure.

``We know what we have to do to get to the finals. We are going to work hard. Fans should not be worried at all by not taking this to be the end. No, this is where it will start,’’ he said.

He said, to take a lone goal defeat into the return leg was a positive thing for the team.

``If they had scored two or three goals against us, that could have been different, but it’s just a single goal, we can easily cancel out this.

``We remain focused in getting to the finals to lifting the trophy for a third time, so we can represent Africa at the World Club Cup,’’ Anyansi-Agwu said.
Enyimba had gone 11 games without a loss but that ended at the Mohammed V Stadium when Pascal Angan's last minute goal handed victory to the Moroccans.
