Mbah lasted only 24hrs in camp before he was asked to return to Warri Wolves.

Spokesperson of the Olympic Eagles Arafat Aliu explained that “Even though Mbah sustained a slight knock on his ankle, the injury was not the reason for his decamping.”

“The player approached officials of the team requesting to travel to Cotonou to get visa on a Sunday but upon investigation by the team Secretary, Shola Ogunnowo, it was discovered that Chimieze Mbah had not reported to his club since his arrival from the Junior World Cup in Colombia and he wanted to use the Olympic team as a guise to proceed on a Denmark trial which his club Warri Wolves had kicked against.”

Chimieze Mbah reported to camp at about 3.26pm on Thursday, trained once and requested to leave camp on Friday to obtain a Denmark Visa in Cotonou on Saturday.

He was however asked to return to immediately to Warri Wolves on Friday Afternoon with same information communicated to the club.

You will recall that Chimezie Mbah was queried by the management of Warri Wolves to explain his failure to return to the team since playing the World Youth Championships with the Nigerian national team.

He claimed he was down with illness and wanted to treat it himself in Lagos.

Meanwhile, Shooting Stars striker Gbolahan Salami and Dolphins defender Austin Festus both reported to the Olympic Eagles camp on Friday.
