Injury rules out Ayila

The bad state of the pitch at the Abuja National Stadium has claimed a casualty in Yusuf Ayila.

The defender turned on a hole in the pitch while controlling a ball on his own and strained his groin, leaving him unable to walk to the ambulance on his own.

The Dinamo Kyiv man was taken straight to hospital and the initial prognosis estimates he could be out for about six weeks.

Team officials had complained about the state of the Abuja pitch, and Super Falcons players who played Cameroon on Sunday had equally derided the pitch.

Ayila's injury leaves Siasia little margin for error with the remainder of his squad as Taye Taiwo, Danny Shittu and Osaze Odemwingie have all withdrawn due to injury.

The coach will be much more cheerful when he surveys his squad as Elderson Echiejile and Vincent Enyeama became the last of his troops to breeze in on Tuesday night to swell his campp to 19 players.

Earlier on Tuesday, Chigozie Agbim, Brown Ideye and Emmanuel Emenike had breezed in.

They were later joined by Chibuzor Okonkwo and Yusuf Ayila.
Gege Soriola, who recently joined Free State Stars will fly straight to Antananarivo from his new base in South Africa, as will the duo of skipper Joseph Yobo and Ike Uche.
