Ocean Boys’ Okey Akabogu suspended indefinitely


The Nigeria Premier League have come hard on Ocean Boys defender, Okey Akabogu by suspending him indefinitely.

In a release made available by Kasali Obanoyen, who is the Special Assistant on media to the League, Akabogu was suspended for his conduct in bringing the game into disrepute.

Akabogu allegedly used gun wielding youth to invade the hotel of Lobi Stars, a few hours to their game in Yenagoa against Ocean boys as he protested their unwillingness to pay what was owed him when he played for the club before joining Ocean Boys.

“Okey Akabugu, a registered player of Ocean Boys FC of Bayelsa is suspended indefinitely for his conduct in bringing the game into disrepute, pending the outcome of the on-going investigation on an allegation that inhibited the match between Ocean Boys FC and Lobi Stars FC being played at the Samson Siasia Stadium on Sunday 17th July, 2011,” the release read.

As a result, Lobi Stars left immediately for their base refusing to play the match since they felt their security could no longer be guaranteed.

In the same vein, Rangers goalkeeper, Ebele Obi who is elder brother to Chelsea midfielder, Mikel has been warned to desist from improper dressing during League matches.
