Akpokona hopes to make coaching return

Former Dolphins and Warri Wolves coach, Lawrence Akpokona (In pic)says he hopes to return to the dugout just before the start of the next football season.

Akpokona who was sacked at Dolphins in 2008; Ocean Boys in 2009 and Warri Wolves in 2010 says he is currently taking a forced break from football since he initial plans did not work out the way he wanted it.

“Yes I am on break for football but it did not happen the way I planned it,” Akpokona told naijafootball247.com.

“At the end of the last football season I wanted to go abroad for training so I rejected all offers that came my way because I did not want to leave any club by December when I was due for my course.

“However, I didn’t go for the course anymore for certain reasons and that is why I am currently clubless but I hope to return in time for next season,” Akpokona said.

He added that he still goes to the stadium regularly to watch football games, both local and international because he has to keep in touch with what is going on in the game.

“What will I do at home if there is a League or international game at a stadium close to me? I always go to the stadium to watch games. I must keep in touch with what is happening in the football world and that is why I am still active in that regard.
