Mikel laughs off United’s claims to EPL title

Chelsea and Nigeria international midfielder, John Mikel Obi says Manchester United are no closer to winning the League title now than they were in September.

Mikel told naijafootball247.com that the English Premier League title this season belongs to Chelsea and United only occupy the top of the table temporarily.

“It’s not much about current position on the log but how much you want it and in the last couple of weeks we have shown by our mentality that we want the title even more than Manchester United,” Mikel told naijafootball247.com.

“It puts more pressure on United and Arsenal because whenever they look back they see us behind them seriously grabbing points while they drop points.

“I think United and Arsenal are really scared that we are coming back and towards the end of the season this is what you need- a winning mentality and the actual wins on the pitch.”

During the week, Manchester United forward, Wayne Rooney had indicated that they want to get their 19th title to rub it in the faces of eternal rivals, Liverpool but Mikel insists that would not happen, at least not this season.

“Right now we are playing well and winning and believe at the end of the season, it will be Chelsea crowned League champions and not Manchester United or Arsenal.”
