League get funds for fresh election

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has released the sum of seven million naira (about $46,000) to the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) with a mandate to conduct elections to fill the positions of the chairman and chairman of chairmen which was declared vacant in Uyo after her annual General Assembly.

It was gathered that the money was received on behalf of NPL by its acting Chairman Shehu Gusua on Friday at the Glasshouse with definite instructions to organise elections to beat the March 21 date when a court case instituted by Davidson Owumi challenging his exclusion from contesting the said election is expected to come up at a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Embattled chairman of the NPL, Davidson Owumi is currently in court to fight his exclusion from the fresh elections.

The Nigeria Premier League has been without a chairman for close to one year as Davidson Owumi and Victor Baribote Rumson (Pictured above) have been in battle over who should be chairman of the League.

Davidson Owumi beat Baribote in the elections conducted last year but Baribote protested that Owumi was not eligible to contest.

  2. Hmmm. Yeah, survival of the fittest. But who is eligible and who is not?
They have to start telling us these things.
If Owumi is out, does it mean Baribote be returned unopposed? Who are the fresh contestants. Questions, and more questions
