However, have decided it is time to do the right thing and rescind their earlier decision on the League title sponsorship.

They are expected to meet with the minister of sports, Taoheed Adedoja on Tuesday to intimate him on their resolve to rescind their earlier decision on the league sponsorship.

A source close to the club owners says that they were going to the minister as a sign of respect to brief him that a congress would be conveyed within the week to quash their earlier decision which stopped telecommunications giants, MTN from executing the contract it won as title sponsor for the premier league.

“The club owners are tired of making a mockery of the league by allowing government pay indemnities of match officials when there is a capable corporate organisation that is ready to bankroll the league,” the source said.

“They will be meeting the minister on Tuesday and hopefully before the end of the week MTN would be allowed to pay the title sponsorship money to the league so that the second stanza of the league will go on without any hindrances as noticed in the first phase of the league season.

“Though the minister is pleading with club owners for time, they have made up their minds to take the bull by the horn to save the league,” our source said.

In the last few weeks, the NPL have not been able to football the bills of running the League and that included indemnities for match officials and other sundry expenses.
