Anichebe sits out training, Osaze back in

It was a tale of mixed fortunes for Samson Siasia on Friday as Victor Anichebe (pictured left) was not able to train while two others who had not trained for two days joined the fray.

Anichebe received a knock in training on Thursday and the medical crew did not want to risk him while Osaze Odemwingie and Obafemi Martins started in training for the probables.

Anichebe just stood on the touch line watching his colleagues play and newly appointed media officer of the Super Eagles, Colin Udoh told that it was merely a precautionary measure.

“There is nothing really serious with Anichebe. He received a knock in training and the coaches just wanted him to rest so it’s not like he will not play on Sunday, he is still part of preparations.

Meanwhile Osaze Odemwingie and Obafemi Martins who had not trained with the rest of the team since Tuesday joined up for the probables side.

Assistant coach of the Eagles, Simon Kalika told that the players will all be ready for Sunday’s game.

“We are just trying to be careful. Osaze, Martins and Anichebe will be part of the team for Sunday,” Kalika said.

“We have a very fit team and are spoiled for talent but we will just obey the number one law in sports which is to use the fittest and best players at each point in time.”
