Siasia confident home Eagles will deliver

Super Eagles head coach, Samson Siasia says he remains confident in the ability in the home based Super Eagles players making their mark on the big stage.

The home based players are set to depart Nigeria on Wednesday for the United States to take part in the Green Bowl Soccer tourney and Siasia says the players he has are good enough to go all the way for Nigeria.

“So far I am impressed with their output and they showed during the international friendly game against Sierra Leone that they can hold their own on the big stage,” Siasia said.

“We had injuries and had to try out the Nigeria based players against Sierra Leone which actually paid off not just because Ehiosun scored the second goal but because they all had good outings in the game.

“If we do not start using them in matches like this we won’t have enough time to put them in the team like we did against Sierra Leone so it was a good contribution from the young players at home.”

Last weekend, Samson Siasia named only Nigeria based players for the trip to the United States and the team included returnees like Sunday Rotimi who last played for the Super Eagles in 2004 and Victor Ezeji (Pic) who last played in 2005.

But biggest name in the team would no doubt be Chibuzor Okonkwo who played at the Olympic Games in 2008.
