Sharks tie good League form to WAFU Cup

The General Manager of Sharks FC, the West Africa Football Union, WAFU Cup kings, Okey Kpalukwu says playing in the regional competition helped their league form aa long way.

Kpalukwu told that many people thought Sharks should have rejected the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF offer of WAFU Cup after they were denied their rights to play in the bigger CAF Confederation Cup.

“I told them that we would accept it because it would be a good pre-season training for us and it really helped us out in the League.

“There was no guarantee we would win the WAFU Cup but at the end of football seasons, clubs go for closed camping to prepare for a new season but now we had the WAFU Cup to play and it really kept our players fit.

“The way we started the League was a good testament and I believe that we can now go all the way to either win the Premier League or at least finish in top position to play on the continent next season,” Kpalukwu said.

Sharks were the last club to lose a game this season, taking their unbeaten run up till the sixth match day of the season losing 2-1 to Zamfara United in Kano
