NPL opens first transfer window

The Nigerian Premier League has opened a one week transfer window which started from Wednesday 5th and ends on January 12th, 2011.

According to the Acting Executive Secretary, Tunji Babalola, "the transfer window is specifically opened to register and de-register players who cannot meet up their club(s) performance as a result of injuries and in some unfortunate cases, death.”

He further maintained that, registration of players by the various clubs should not exceed 35 and medical report indicating the degree of injury sustained by any player(s) they are dropping should be provided during this transfer window.

The Nigerian League unlike all other Leagues in the world, has multiple transfer windows, one in week 9, one mid-season and another at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, all week 11 midweek matches will hold as scheduled respectively.

The NPL had previously said midweek matches would not hold until the League gets title sponsors hence the clarification.
