League games were called off at NFF’s request

Naijafootball247.com can reveal that Wednesday and Thursday’s Nigeria Premier League games were called off because the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF asked for it to be done that way.

Just on Monday, word filtered out that there will be no week 11 games that should have held midweek and the League will now continue by weekend and a source at the NPL told naijafootball247.com that it was due to the fact that both the U20 national team (the Flying Eagles) and the Super Eagles currently preparing for the Obama Invitational Cup in the USA.

“The NFF felt that it would be anti progress to have midweek games when two national teams are preparing for competitions,” our source said.

“You know the players will still be released to their clubs by weekend so if we have games and we release them midweek too it kills the whole idea of the camp.”

Already new Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia alongside his assistant, Simon Kalika has already started drilling the players at the Abuja camp of theEagles.
