Ezeji happy to be back with Super Eagles

Sharks FC prolific scorer, Victor Ezeji says he is happy to be back to the national team set up.

Victor Ezeji (Left) last played for the Eagles in 2005 at the LG Cup in Libya where he had two games and previously played an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Mozambique in 2001 and is elated at his recent invitation to the national team set up once more.

On his return to the national team for the Obama Cup in USA next month, Ezeji told naijafootball247.com that his recent goal scoring feat had to count for something.

“People may say the national team coach, Samson Siasia watched our game against Kano Pillars where I scored so he extended an invitation to me but I believe I was invited not just for my performance in that match but what I have done in recent times,” he said.

True to it, Ezeji has been top scorer at Sharks since his return from Club Africain of Tunisia two seasons ago and before leaving in 2007, he was top scorer at Dolphins for three seasons including being FA Cup top scoring player in 2006.

“I am born to score goals and I hope to continue doing that. Then again I must be thankful for the kind of teammates I have played with since I started my career who have always made things easy for me.

“I hope to impress the coaches enough at the national camp and at the Obama Cup to be a regular invitee when the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers begin,” he enthused.

Victor Ezeji is the most decorated player in the Nigerian League having won the League twice with Enyimba and Dolphins in 2003 and 2004 respectively, the CAF Champions League and CAF Super Cup with Enyimba in 2003 and 2004 and the FA Cup with Dolphins in 2004, 2006 and 2007 as well as winning the West Africa Football Union, WAFU Cup with Sharks in 2010.

He has also won gold at the West Africa University Games while personal honours for him include being Most Valuable Player in the FA Cup and Nigerian League in 2004 as well as MVP and top scorer in the FA Cup in 2006

In a career spanning over ten years, he has played for Sharks, Enyimba, Dolphins, Club Africian and is currently with Sharks.
