Yakubu rallies support for Siasia,

Super Eagles and Everton striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni says new Nigerian head coach Samson Siasia should be supported by everyone as he begins his reign on what could be described as one of the most difficult jobs in the country.

Yakubu told naijafootball247.com via telephone from his base in England that the Super Eagles job is going to be the toughest assignment embarked upon by Siasia in his career so far.

“Although I have not called him or sent him any goodwill message, I want everybody to support him as he begins this very difficult task.

“He has done well with the Flying Eagles and the Olympic team and is also very popular with the fans. I hope we all understand that the Super Eagles is different from these other teams.

Yakubu says there will be more pressure coaching the Super Eagles than any other of Nigeria’s national team but insists Siasia can weather the storm.

“With the Super Eagles there is tremendous pressure, you must always get it right and everybody will be on your neck. Siasia should be ready for this and even more. This is surely going to be a tough task”.

Yakubu Aiyegbeni last played for Nigeria’s national team at the 2010 World Cup and has not been recalled to the team ever since.
