Rivers governor to meet Sharks

Sharks' striker, Victor Ezeji
Rivers State governor, Chibuike Amaechi will host new WAFU Cup kings, Sharks FC on Tuesday at the government house in Port Harcourt.
According to sports commissioner, Boma Iyaye, the reception is a welcome development to enable Sharks officially present their trophy to the governor.
Sharks won the West Africa Football Union, WAFU Cup on Sunday, beating CASA Sport of Senegal, one zero in the final.
“It is a good start for Sharks and I hope that more laurels will follow in the Nigeria Premier League and other competitions,” Iyaye told naijafootball247.com.
It was Victor Ezeji’s 10th minute goal in the final against CASA Sport that gave Sharks that 1-0 win.
Meanwhile, Sharks media officer, Confidence Idaa has played down talks that the club has finally broken the 38 year old jinx.
Sharks, formed since 1972 failed to win any major trophy leading to reports that the club was under a curse and needed to make restitution before they start winning but Idaa says that has all been rubbish.
“There has never been anything like a jinx or curse on the team. It has always been down to hard work and now we worked hard we have got ourselves a trophy,” Idaa told naijafootball247.com.
“I just hope all these talks about curses, evil spirits and jinxes will finally stop,” the media officer said.
