Chinwo hails Siasia’s appointment

Former youth international, Kennedy Chinwo has hailed the appointment of Samson Siasia as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

Chinwo who was part of Nigeria’s U20 team that got to the final of the World Youth Championships in 2005 and played a part in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games team in the qualifiers says he believes Siasia is the best man for now to handle the Eagles.

“When I heard of the appointment I was very happy because for the first time in a long time Nigerians have unanimously rooted for the same person and the NFF also listened to the voice of Nigerians,” Chinwo said.

“Aside that, Siasia has proved time and time again that he can do the job because he took us all the way to the final in 2005 and 2008 at the Olympic Games and I really wish him the best with the Super Eagles.”

Chinwo added that he was still interested in playing for the national team under Siasia but knows he must up his game to get a call up.

“I really have to improve because I know Siasia will not call me to the team just because I played for him in 2005 and 2008. I have started well with Dolphins this season but I know I must be truly exceptional to even dream of getting invited to the Eagles camp but I know that I will give one hundred and fifty percent this season to get that dream call up.” Chinwo said.

Kennedy Chinwo won the League and FA Cup with Dolphins in 2004 and then helped the club to the final of the CAF confederation Cup in 2005.

He moved to Moldova and after two seasons returned home to join Heartland where he played until the 2009/10 football season.

He was also part of Nigeria's U17 team that finished 2nd in the World Cup in 2001.
