The Confederation of African Football CAF has postponed this weekend's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Guinea billed for Conakry.

The postponement is indefinite according to CAF's director of communications, Sulaiman Habuba.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have postponed Nigeria’s 2012 Nations Cup qualifier in Conakry on Sunday till further notice.

“The match has been postponed till further notice,” announced CAF director of communications, Sulaiman Habuba, who would not elaborate.

NFF's media officer, Robinson Okosun told naijafootball247.blogspot.com that they are aware of the postponement and will be addressing the players on tuesday night.

"We will definitely shut the camp but the players will train this evening and after the session we will talk to them and send them off back to their clubs," Okosun said.

http://www.mtnfootball.com/ reports that Guinea coach, Michel Dussuyer, also confirmed he has received a fax at his Abidjan hotel room that the tie has been put off until further notice. He said no reason was given for this postponement.

Eagles assistant coach, Ben Iroha, disclosed the team have not been communicated on any shift of Sunday’s clash in Conakry.

“This is news to me. I didn’t know. Nobody has told us about this any way. Maybe we will be communicated any way. Sunday is the date we have been working with to play in Guinea,” Iroha told MTNFootball.com.

Guinea, who have called up 19 foreign pros for Sunday’s showdown, have been training in Abidjan.

Nigeria have been training in Abuja with a dozen Europe-based stars joining up for Wednesday evening workout.

There have been serious doubts about the game, first as a result of the general elections in Guinea and by Monday, due to the FIFA suspension of Nigeria.

Iroha expressed concerns over when the match will now be played if not on Sunday.

“The problem is that as regards playing the game at a later date may constitute a big problem because I don’t really know how it is going to work out. I foresee a difficulty in rescheduling this match. It is going to be pretty difficulty to secure their release from their various clubs for a rescheduled match if that is what will happen,” said the former Nigeria international defender.

However, MTNFootball.com has since gathered that the top Group B match will likely be played in the next FIFA friendly window on November 17.
